Phonic Pack 5 contains 24 sequential lessons covering i (blind), wa (swan), a (father), o (glove),  ce (face), o (pony), g (cage), alk (chalk).

The first six lessons cover some commonly used words which children should be able to confidently spell at this stage of development.

Lesson 16 compares son/sun, won/one, some/sum and sponge/sponge.

Lesson 7 includes the story ‘Shy Platypus’ Farewell Party’ to revise and compare sounds ‘ie’, ‘y’, ‘i-e’ and ‘i’.

Lessons 21 and 22 use the story, ‘Mo, The Lost Monkey’, to cover and compare “o,o,o,o,ow and o-e”.

Phonic Pack 5:

  • The lessons are set out in sequence, continuing this Phonic Programme.
  • Detailed tutor notes are included.
  • Phonic Pack 5 consists of 24 lessons.
  • The first six lessons cover some commonly used words which children should be able to confidently spell at this stage of development.
  • Phonic Pack 5 also covers i (blind), wa (swan), a (father), o (glove),  ce (face), o (pony), g (cage), alk (chalk).
  • Lesson 16 compares son/sun, won/one, some/sum and sponge/sponge.
  •  Lesson 7 includes the story ‘Shy Platypus’ Farewell Party’ to revise and compare sounds ‘ie’, ‘y’, ‘i-e’ and ‘i’.

  • It is important that children comprehend what they read so a comprehension exercises are included with the introduction of each sound.
  • Extension exercises are suggested if the tutor would like to integrate the lessons into other learning areas. (Spelling, Oral English, Drama, Art, Report Writing, Writing, Science, Mapping, Mathematics and Enterprise and Technology)

Phonic Pack Five consists of:

  • one Student Phonic Work Book consisting of 24 lessons (52 pages.) 
  • detailed tutor notes which make it easy to introduce and present the lessons. These notes will be especially useful for parents and inexperienced teachers who are seeking guidance in teaching children how to read.
  • a lesson schedule which sets the  programme out lesson by sequential  lesson.  All the hard work has been done for you, just follow the lesson sequence as suggested. 
  • flash cards to cut out for each sound covered.
  • a reference sheet showing the correct formation for each letter –  this can be used to remind children how to form the letters correctly and to help with the learning of the alphabet. 
  • an honour certificate to present to the child when the lessons are completed  to provide positive recognition of  the hard work the child has put in to covering the lessons.
